The Effect of the Play Therapist`s Type A/B and Perfectionism on Therapeutic Relationship

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the play therapist¡¯s type A/B and perfectionism on therapeutic relationship. The subjects of this study were 110 play therapists. The collected data were analyzed by multi-regression analysis. The result showed that play therapist¡¯s type A/B and perfectionism were influenced by therapeutic relationship. When play therapist had type A, the degree of negative emotional relationship between child and therapist was higher. When play therapist had type B, however, the degree of positive emotional relationship and therapeutic relationship between child and therapist was higher. The degree of negative emotional relationship between parents and therapist was shown higher when play therapist had type A. On the other hand, the degree of positive emotional relationship between parents and therapist was highly evident when play therapist had type B. When play therapist had perfectionism tendency, the degree of positive emotional relationship and therapeutic relationship was higher. When play therapist had negative consequence of perfectionism, however, the degree of negative emotional relationship was higher.
